Miles &#8212; Oscar-nominated for her supporting performance in <a href=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=27442\"><em>Midnight Cowboy<\/em> (1969)<\/a> &#8212; is perfectly cast here as an aging diva with attachment issues:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-Miles.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-Miles.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"360\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-92398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-Miles.png 624w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-Miles-300x173.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-Miles-128x74.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-Miles-468x270.png 468w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; and Dallesandro once again plays &#8212; well, himself, as handsome, casual, and pan-sexually appealing as ever. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"360\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-92399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro.png 624w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-300x173.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-128x74.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Dallesandro-468x270.png 468w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Andrea Farnsworth &#8212; memorable in <a href=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=86676\"><em>Trash<\/em> (1970)<\/a> as &#8220;the rich girl&#8221; with the funny voice (her voice is equally strange here) &#8212; plays one of the most obnoxious grown-daughters in cinematic history: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Feldman.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Feldman.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"360\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-92401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Feldman.png 624w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Feldman-300x173.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Feldman-128x74.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Feldman-468x270.png 468w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8212; a whiny ingrate who would come close to winning the worst-mother-in-the-world award (she carries her baby around in a bag and gives him sedatives so she can head out). (Sadly, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Andrea_Feldman\">Farnsworth<\/a> committed suicide just before this film premiered.) Perhaps having the most fun with their performance is Pat Ast as Lydia the landlady, who isn&#8217;t afraid to show her roaring appetite for Dallesandro. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Ast.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Ast.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"360\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-92402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Ast.png 624w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Ast-300x173.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Ast-128x74.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Heat-Ast-468x270.png 468w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the semi-improvised screenplay isn&#8217;t very engaging or clever, leaving us simply waiting for any reasonably juicy zingers (&#8220;Is that a way to bring up a boy? He&#8217;ll be a lesbian!&#8221;).
