It remains a surprisingly compelling character study of friendship, loyalty, leadership, politics, revenge, and spirituality, with King Henry&#8217;s toxic narcissism &#8212; he <em>needs<\/em> to be on top, and considers himself more important even than God &#8212; as a driving thematic force.
