{"id":85048,"date":"2022-06-26T17:08:36","date_gmt":"2022-06-27T00:08:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=85048"},"modified":"2022-12-24T11:52:55","modified_gmt":"2022-12-24T18:52:55","slug":"farewell-to-graeme-clark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=85048","title":{"rendered":"Farewell to Graeme Clark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just received notice from a family member that a fellow film reviewer &#8211; Graeme Clark of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thespinningimage.co.uk\/utils\/aboutus.asp\">The Spinning Image<\/a> &#8212; has passed away. <\/p>\n<p>I never met Graeme, but we did exchange several emails over the past year as he graciously pointed out a few minor errors in my reviews, and gave his kind appreciation for the work I&#8217;ve been doing.<\/p>\n<p>I tried to calculate how many times I&#8217;ve cited Graeme&#8217;s reviews on my <em>GFTFF<\/em> site, but don&#8217;t have an easy algorithm to do that, so can&#8217;t say for sure; suffice it to say that it&#8217;s well into the hundreds. I could always count on enjoying Graeme&#8217;s honest take on a range of titles, and knowing his review would be worthy of inclusion as a link in my own overview (an &#8220;honor&#8221; I don&#8217;t give lightly). <\/p>\n<p>From looking at the &#8220;About Our Team&#8221; page on Spinning Image, Graeme wrote: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Graeme-Clark.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Graeme-Clark.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1110\" height=\"310\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-85051\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Graeme-Clark.png 1110w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Graeme-Clark-300x84.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Graeme-Clark-1024x286.png 1024w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Graeme-Clark-128x36.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Graeme-Clark-768x214.png 768w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Graeme-Clark-604x169.png 604w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like Graeme, I also love <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=5660\"><em>Casablanca<\/em> (1942)<\/a>, but I still need to revisit <em>Brazil<\/em> (1985) and <a href=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=87509\"><em>Blue Velvet<\/em> (1986)<\/a> to gauge my current reaction to those. Stay tuned! <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, I checked back on my own review of <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=80194\"><em>A Matter of Life and Death<\/em> (1946)<\/a> and found myself grateful that he listed this among its faves, given what a beautiful vision it offers of life after death. <\/p>\n<p>RIP Graeme.
