James Woods is perfectly cast as a smoker who instantly regrets walking in the door of an anti-smoking organization (run by Alan King) which takes its mission <em>deadly<\/em> seriously: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3-1024x492.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"308\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-56374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3-1024x492.png 1024w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3-300x144.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3-128x62.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3-768x369.png 768w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3-1536x738.png 1536w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3-562x270.png 562w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Woods3.png 1833w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The dark comedic potential in this set-up is effectively mined. Fortunately, there&#8217;s something to enjoy in each of the other two segments as well; it&#8217;s impossible not to feel one&#8217;s heart in one&#8217;s mouth during &#8220;The Ledge&#8221;, for instance:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Ledge.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Ledge-1024x500.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"313\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-56376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Ledge-1024x500.png 1024w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Ledge-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Ledge-128x63.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Ledge-768x375.png 768w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Ledge.png 1841w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; and I&#8217;m impressed by Carlo Rambaldi&#8217;s troll in the third segment (the scene in which the troll slowly sucks breath directly out of Barrymore&#8217;s sleeping mouth is truly haunting). <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Breathing.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Breathing-1024x502.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"314\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-56375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Breathing-1024x502.png 1024w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Breathing-300x147.png 300w, getting such a good rap here &#8212; and it should be noted that the multiple tabbies enlisted to &#8220;play&#8221; the central feline character do an impressive job (at the very least their handler, Karl Lewis Miller, should be applauded!). <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Cats-Eye-Cat.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
