and Nobu (Sadako Sawamura) runs a restaurant with her husband.\n<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>\n<strong>Genres, Themes, Actors, and Directors:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Feminism and Women&#8217;s Issues<\/li>\n<li>Has-Beens<\/li>\n<li>Japanese Films<\/li>\n<li>Survival<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Review: <\/strong><br \/>\nPeary lists only two films by prolific Japanese director <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mikio_Naruse\">Mikio Naruse<\/a> in his <em>GFTFF<\/em>: this title and <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=82223\"><em>Floating Clouds<\/em> (1955)<\/a> (though I consider his <em>When a Woman Ascends the Stairs<\/em> [1960] to be a Missing Title, and have reviewed it <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=4391\">here<\/a>). <em>Late Chrysanthemums<\/em> offers a simple yet stark look at the realities of survival for women who have spent their lives relying on the &#8220;generosity&#8221;
