Foster) &#8212; while Swinburne prepares to give birth to another child.\n<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>\n<strong>Genres, Themes, Actors, and Directors:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coming of Age<\/li>\n<li>Expatriates<\/li>\n<li>India<\/li>\n<li>Jean Renoir Films<\/li>\n<li>Love Triangle <\/li>\n<li>Veterans<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Response to Peary\u2019s Review: <\/strong><br \/>\nPeary writes that &#8220;Jean Renoir&#8217;s lyrical film about an English family living in Bengal, on the Ganges&#8221; &#8212; based on a semi-autobiographical novel by Rumer Godden, who co-wrote the screenplay with Renoir &#8212; &#8220;deals with the merging of cultures&#8221; and &#8220;how these four young characters&#8221; (Walters, Breen, Corri, and Radha) &#8220;overcome their various forms of self-hatred.&#8221; He points out &#8220;it is beautifully shot by the director&#8217;s nephew Claude Renoir&#8221; and &#8220;there are some powerful passages,&#8221; with Walters giving &#8220;a lovely performance&#8221;: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/River-Walters3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/River-Walters3-1024x766.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"479\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-81219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/River-Walters3-1024x766.png 1024w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/River-Walters3-300x224.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/River-Walters3-128x96.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/River-Walters3-768x574.png 768w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/River-Walters3-361x270.png 361w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/River-Walters3.png 1245w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n&#8230; but he argues, &#8220;I don&#8217;t like the characters, and I believe that half the cast should have been replaced and that more emphasis should have been placed on how India affects the family.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Peary&#8217;s complaints are rather broad and difficult to challenge.
