Because the sub-genre of &#8220;sci fi <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Body_horror\">body horror<\/a>&#8221; films isn&#8217;t a personal favorite, it&#8217;s hard for me to comment on whether Cronenberg&#8217;s film goes off the rails or simply continues along its own perversely logical trajectory; I can say that things certainly build to a tense fever pitch by the end, leading to a sense of claustrophobia and despair. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Shivers-Still4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Shivers-Still4-1024x573.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"358\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-69976\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Shivers-Still4-1024x573.png 1024w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Shivers-Still4-300x168.png 300w, href=\"http:\/\/www.moriareviews.com\/horror\/shivers-1975-they-came-from-within.htm\">Moria<\/a> writes, &#8220;<em>Shivers<\/em> is <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=13027\"><em>Night of the Living Dead<\/em><\/a> construed as a satire on the 1970s swinger lifestyle&#8221; &#8212; a very apt analogy indeed.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Redeeming Qualities and Moments:
