The book&#8217;s sad ending was changed (naturally), leaving instead a comedically &#8220;heart-warming&#8221; tale of boozy moochers trying their best to maintain a lifestyle of wanton bachelorhood, but ultimately finding themselves lured by the call of domesticity and righteous behavior (and religion).
