As Peary points out, &#8220;Wayne and Clift are both excellent&#8221;, and &#8220;their different acting styles work to emphasize their characters&#8217; different attitudes.&#8221; Wayne&#8217;s willingness to play a Bligh-like character (albeit one we feel some sympathy for) is impressive, and speaks to the acting range he was allowed to display after this point. Clift &#8212; in his <em>almost<\/em>-screen debut, after <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=49510\"><em>The Search<\/em><\/a> (1948) &#8212; couldn&#8217;t be more gorgeous:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Red-River-Clift-Chin.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Red-River-Clift-Chin.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-54079\"
