He notes that &#8220;Gordon Scott, who had played the jungle hero in several low-budgeted, studio-shot films in the early and mid-fifties, returned as the more introspective, human, mature&#8230; , and articulate Tarzan than he had played before&#8221;: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Scott.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Scott.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"688\" height=\"384\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-65240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Scott.png 688w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Scott-300x167.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Scott-128x71.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Scott-484x270.png 484w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 688px) 100vw, 688px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; and adds that &#8220;the villains he confronts aren&#8217;t cartoon characters, but complex men with singular motivations for committing crimes&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>While I haven&#8217;t see any Tarzan films outside of those listed in <em>GFTFF<\/em>, I&#8217;m in agreement that this is surely among the best. We get authentically caught up in the drama, which features realistic (and scary) settings, plenty of tension, well-filmed action scenes, and memorable supporting roles (including Connery as a naughty villain). <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2-1024x570.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"356\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-65238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2-1024x570.png 1024w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2-300x167.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2-128x71.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2-768x428.png 768w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2-1536x856.png 1536w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2-485x270.png 485w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2-1038x576.png 1038w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Connery2.png 1833w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re never sure what will happen next, who will die next (or how), and &#8212; in particular &#8212; what will conspire between scar-faced Quayle and McGinnis (playing a greedy, cunning, bespectacled German completely obsessed with diamonds). While I&#8217;m not a fan of Shane&#8217;s sexually aggressive American pilot: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Shane.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Shane.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"688\" height=\"384\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-65242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Shane.png 688w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Shane-300x167.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Shane-128x71.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tarzan-Greatest-Shane-484x270.png 484w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 688px) 100vw, 688px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; she shows impressive growth throughout the film and &#8220;deserves&#8221; her ultimate dalliance with Tarzan.
