Indeed, watching this independently produced film puts <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1962_in_film\">more mainstream movies of the same year<\/a> in an interesting perspective: while many of these titles (i.e., <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=37728\"><em>To Kill a Mockingbird<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=35521\"><em>The Manchurian Candidate<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=21586\"><em>Days of Wine and Roses<\/em><\/a>) were concerned with &#8220;social issues&#8221;, none were anything close to this raw in their depiction. With that said, <em>The Connection<\/em> unfortunately isn&#8217;t all that interesting or compelling; it&#8217;s far too stagy and dry, and I would revisit any of the above titles before this one for sheer entertainment value. Yet <em>The Connection<\/em> remains of minor interest simply for its historical importance. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Redeeming Qualities and Moments: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A refreshingly frank (for the time in which it was made) look at drug use<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Connection-Leach.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Connection-Leach.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"704\" height=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-34792\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Connection-Leach.png 704w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Connection-Leach-128x87.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Connection-Leach-300x205.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Must See? <\/strong><br \/>\nNo, though it&#8217;s recommended for one-time viewing simply given its historical significance.
