Meanwhile, the town doctor (Frank Craven) and a psychologist well-versed in vampire lore (J. Edward Bromberg) begin to investigate Alucard&#8217;s true identity.\n<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p>\n<strong>Genres, Themes, Actors, and Directors:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Horror Films<\/li>\n<li>Lon Chaney, Jr. Films<\/li>\n<li>Robert Siodmak Films<\/li>\n<li>Vampires<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Review: <\/strong><br \/>\nOpinions vary widely on this third entry in Universal Studios&#8217; Dracula franchise (directed by Robert Siodmak), with most critics lambasting it as the worst of the bunch &#8212; thanks primarily to the perceived miscasting of Lon Chaney, Jr. in the title role. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Chaney.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Chaney.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-64603\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Chaney.png 720w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Chaney-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Chaney-128x96.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Chaney-360x270.png 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dvdtalk.com\/dvdsavant\/s309drac.html\">DVD Savant argues<\/a>, he&#8217;s &#8220;lumbering and chubby&#8221;, and &#8220;just looks overfed, puffy, and in a bad temper. It doesn&#8217;t work for a moment.&#8221; With that said, the film remains of minor interest for: a) being the first to portray a Goth girl lusting after eternal life through vampirism (Allbritton is convincing in this pivotal role):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Allbritton.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Allbritton.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-64605\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Allbritton.png 720w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Allbritton-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Allbritton-128x96.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Allbritton-360x270.png 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and b) essentially turning a standard-issue Universal horror sequel into a <em>film noir<\/em>, complete with a <em>femme fatale<\/em>, atmospheric cinematography, plenty of unexpected plot twists, and a poor chump of a guy (Paige is equally convincing) who really doesn&#8217;t deserve the roller coaster ride of emotions he&#8217;s taken on. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Son-of-Dracula-Paige2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
