When Shelley Winters (perfectly cast as Max&#8217;s hypocritical, brown-nosing mother) accidentally shouts out, &#8220;I&#8217;m an <em>Aryan<\/em>!&#8221; as she&#8217;s dragged away by the regime&#8217;s Age Police, the allegory between Frost&#8217;s Youth-topia and Hitler&#8217;s Third Reich couldn&#8217;t be clearer. Instead, the film continues inexorably along its dystopic path: when Frost informs Fergus&#8217;s young daughter, Mary, that he&#8217;s 24, she responds with <em>youthful <\/em>disdain, &#8220;That&#8217;s <em>old<\/em>!&#8221; The fear on Frost&#8217;s face at this moment shows that he&#8217;s beginning to realize (perhaps too late) the folly of his logic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear-1024x565.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"353\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-63911\" srcset=\"https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear-1024x565.png 1024w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear-128x71.png 128w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear-768x424.png 768w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear-1536x848.png 1536w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear-489x270.png 489w, https:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Fear.png 1817w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Inevitable comparisons have been made between this film and 1968&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/?p=1142\"><em>Privilege<\/em><\/a> &#8212; an equally provocative satire about a popular musician used for nefarious political purposes. But ultimately the films take radically different approaches to their subject matter. <em>Privilege<\/em> revolves around a patsy rock star who gradually comes to realize that his very identity is being manipulated by the government. Frost, however, is politically savvy from the get-go, and never lets up on his bitter thirst to eliminate the equation of age and experience with wisdom and ability.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Redeeming Qualities and Moments: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jones&#8217;s charismatic portrayal as Max Frost (though his ratty ponytail has <em>got<\/em> to go!)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Jones2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/filmfanatic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/10\/Wild-in-the-Streets-Jones2-1024x560.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"350\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-63906\"
